Media have been telling stories of poorly performing Chicago schools for many years, using images of minority kids to draw reader attention. Youth in these neighborhoods could be creating their own follow up stories, showing the lack of nonschool resources, and calling on local business, faith and political leaders to do more to make such programs available,
