VOLUNTEERISM AND CITIZENSHIP IN BRAZIL AND THE WORLD

When, in 2018, then presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) said, in the second round of elections, that he would “put an end to all activism in Brazil”, civil society organizations and social movements collectively signed a declaration of repudiation which cited a study carried out by IPEA (Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas), in 2017, reporting the existence of 820,000 NGOs. Also according to the signatory organizations, it was a volunteer network at around millions of citizens…See More

Hello everybody, I created this project project%20TMC%20DGRD.docx whose aim is to dig into the Tutor/Mentor´s sites with students from Brazil, and which I am presenting to schools, with no perspective, untill now, due to an utilitarian and short-sighted approach of education that presents itself during conversations with principals.Enjoy!Daniel DelmantoSee More

Some considerations on social services reform based on the vision of the Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago

In 1991, four researchers from the Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago presented to the city, faced with rising poverty and violence, particularly among young people, an alternative vision of reforming the social services system, with a focus on social services to support youth and families. With funding from an intermediary, the Chicago Community Trust, worth $30 million - $65 million in current values - this proposal was initially tested in 7 low-income…

Good Day,

How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on ( pollardjames96@gmail.com ) for the full details.

Hi Daniel.  Saw story today outlining 8 root causes of poverty & violence in Rio.  See http://www.rioonwatch.org/?p=37723

View article I posted this week after reading report about state of racial justice in Chicago. http://tutormentor.blogspot.com/2017/08/state-of-racial-justice-in-chicago-who.html

I think people in Rio and other cities could use visualizations the way I do and apply the 4-step strategy I've piloted since 1993 in their own cities. Just needs a leader with the vision to do this....and better resources than I've ever had.

This is what's supposed to  happen as a result of the outreach I do on different platforms.  As you browse this site look at the sub group showing work interns have been doing with me since 2007.  http://tutormentorconnection.ning.com/group/cktmc      You can find another page pointing to a broader collection of intern work at http://www.tutormentorexchange.net/defining-a-terms/215-interns-at-tmc

My hope is that you and others from different universities will engage individual students, or teams of students, in web quests and research work that parallels what my own interns have been doing. Let the students dig through my sites, and create papers and presentations where they describe a Tutor/Mentor Connection type strategy applied to their own city, with teams from universities, hospitals and/or business serving as leaders.  As students do such work it can be shared on forums like this, and in MOOCs and other places that connect people and ideas to each other.

Thanks for joining the Tutor/Mentor Connection on Ning. I started this forum in 2007 before Facebook, LinkedIn and other platforms became dominant. I've kept it going in past few years as a place I could coach interns who work with me in Chicago and as a place others could see a template for their own efforts.  Please introduce yourself and follow the links to other sites with more of the information and ideas I've been collecting and sharing online since 1998.
