Tutor/Mentor Connection

Connect knowledge, volunteers, youth and make a difference.

Hello everybody, I created this project project%20TMC%20DGRD.docx whose aim is to dig into the Tutor/Mentor´s sites with students from Brazil, and which I am presenting to schools, with no perspective, untill now, due to an utilitarian and short-sighted approach of education that presents itself during conversations with principals.

Enjoy!

Daniel, I'm sharing your kind suggestions to my project, so everybody can use it.

"Hi Daniel,
The write up is great. It really shows that you've spent time looking through my site and trying to understand what I've been trying to accomplish and it captures the vision I've been trying to communicate to educators here in Chicago and in the rest of my network.
The only thing I might add would be a few more benefits to your students and your community, as well as an emphasis on this being a long-term project, lasting for a decade or longer.
By emphasizing the on-going, long-term work you
a) deepen understanding of all who are involved
b) support more extensive skill development by all who are involved
c) create better information, involve more people, and help develop more, and better, youth serving programs in places where they are most needed
d) help build stronger social capital and networks for youth directly involved in the project, as well as for youth in programs supported by the project
e) help build a city-wide strategy that engages a growing number of people from all sectors
f) create a growing base of alumni, with a sophisticated knowledge and commitment to the strategy, and who are in positions of leadership in every public and private sector of your community.
I posted an article on my own blog showing a Learning Path concept map that you could use as a syllabus as well as an example of the type of work youth might do.
Please let me know what I can do to help you."

Hugs!

Daniel, thank you for taking time to dig into the information on my web sites and understand the many opportunities for engaging your students in Brazil. Your write up is excellent. I hope others will look at it and understand that they could engage their own students in the same way.
