As you browse the resource site that supports this forum, you'll see that we're focused on volunteer-based, long-term tutor/mentor programs, reaching kids in high poverty neighborhoods who seldom have money for professional paid tutoring, and who need a wider range of social and emotional supports than can be provided by one person in a short time frame.
You'll also see a focus on big cities where the size of poverty and the number of kids involved makes the problem more difficult. I hope you'll help connect people from NYC and other East Coast cities with this discussion and it's mission.
