We held our conference in Chicago on Friday and nearly 110 people attended. I wrote about this i n a blog article titled "it's all about relationships" in which I pointed to an article by Charles Leadbeater which I learned about in another Ning.com forum at Fireside Learning (http://firesidelearning.ning.com/forum/topics/its-all-about-relationships-by?page=1&commentId=1786468%3AComment%3A38341&x=1#1786468Comment38341) I hope folks who visit this site will join us in expand the network of people who read and understand these ideas, and who will work with us to expand the resources available to build and sustain relationship-based tutor/mentor programs like Cabrini Connections and those who attended the conference this week..

  • Is Great Teaching Enough? I encourage you to read this blog article and follow the links to research showing how expanding social capital and the network adults surrounding inner city kids can lead to improvements in schools. http://tutormentor.blogspot.com/2008/12/is-great-teaching-enough.html

Do you have other evidence like this? Do you know of corporate and philanthropic leaders who are advocates for these ideas and who will provide funds and leadership to help volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs grow in high poverty neighborhoods?
