About Me:
I've been involved in tutoring/mentoring all my life. My associations are: Boy Scouts; Big Brothers/Big Sisters; Boys and Girls Clubs; Church Youth. I have a BS in Youth Agency Adminstration from The U. of Indianapolis. Now I'm a K-8 Tutor for Indianapolis Public Schools through the Near Eastside Community Organization (NESCO). I am starting classes at IVY Tech in Human Services.
What do you hope to learn, or share, on this forum?
Always looking to share ideas/suggestions on what works and what doesn't. This is the 21st Century, and what used to work doesn't necessarly work now. Like this is the computer generation. Getting kids to read books is an uphill struggle. I know, I used to work part time for the public library.

This is the link to the Indianapolis Summit. Carrie Harris was the organizer. She was at the conference in Chicago last week. Her husband Nate is our contact at IUPUI.
We have offered the Chicago conference every six months since 1994, but never have covered the costs with sponsorships or fees. We're not going to be able to do this again in 2011 unless we can raise at least $25,000 by mid January to cover the staff/planning/facilities expenses.
That's the goal. I hope you'll take an active role in helping it become a reality.
