About Me:
I have worked as a teacher, principal and district leader in the k-12 public education sector. For the past two years I worked with the BC Ministry of Education to implement a planning process that brings k-12 folks together with college and other community service providers to develop community literacy strategies. I am currently working as a volunteer in my community on a youth literacy committee.
What do you hope to learn, or share, on this forum?
We are interested in finding a program to train volunteer youth tutors to work with learners aged 12-16. We are particularly interested in attracting our aboriginal youth both as tutors and learners.

I invite you and others to use it the same way, to draw ideas that you can use in your own community, and to invite others who will help you communicate those ideas, now, and in the future, to the people who need to provide the time, talent, and dollars to help you operate and sustain those programs for many years.
If the type of work we do to focus on Chicago is duplicated in many cities, with forums like this to connect people, ideas and resources from each city to each other, we can get the attention of more people, more influential people, and thus draw more consistent support to the work individual youth programs do in each area.
