Hi Cathy, thanks for joining us here. I hope you'll take a look at the ning page on classroom2.0. It has 23,000 members, yet very few conversations focused on what members can do to help kids come to school better prepared to learn, or what they can do to increase private sector funding of learning and mentoring for kids in high poverty areas.

If we can draw a fraction of the number of members they have to this site, and focus on the infrastructure and collaboration that would change the revenue flow, and make more and better tutor/mentor programs available, we can have a huge impact on education and society.

    About Me:

As president of TLA, Inc., I light the spark and fan the flame of literacy wherever I can. In business for 12 years, I am a nationally known literacy consultant with specialties in presenting and training tutors, teachers, and families; designing and consulting on literacy initiatives, monthly columnist for Educationworld.com and Inspiringteachers.com and widely published author. I have designed a framework for lay people (PTA/PTO, nonprofits, community organizations and clubs) to organize a volunteer-based tutoring program (at the elementary and middle school levels). This model works with any curriculum or existing materials and is available for those who want to start from scratch. Those who have an existing program can also upgrade to a Reading is For Everyone site.
