Thanks for joining this forum. I hope you'll share the ideas with Chicago HOPES and CPS and help recruit more leaders to support volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs operating in different parts of the city and suburbs of Chicago.

About Me:

I am the volunteer coordinator for Chicago HOPES, an initiative of Chicago Public Schools Students in Temporary Living Situations Department (formerly Homeless Education Program). Chicago HOPES operates homework labs in homeless shelters throughout the city of Chicago. Our goal is to provide one-on-one academic support and enrichment activities to the K-8 students living in the shelters. We staff the homework labs with volunteer tutors. We also partner with organizations and volunteers to provide the enrichment activities bi-monthly (music, art, theater, personal development, etc) . I am responsible for recruiting, training and retraining all the volunteer tutors.
