Spring 2026 IVMOOC project goals

I've been invited to submit a proposal for the Spring 2026 IVMOOC which I've done. I've asked the team to build on what was created by IVMOOC last fall.  Specifically, I'm hoping a new version of the Kumu map will be created (or an update to the current one), using a cleaned up version of the Excel spreadsheet the teams used in the fall.  I'm almost finished going through 20 years of conferences, mostly to create consistency among program names.  It the team uses this I hope they can build a map that adds these features.

- search by organization name

- color code participants, and enable sorting by this field. So Program, Business, College, K-12 School, etc. would each appear as a different color and the map can be sorted so  you only see these

- search my lists at https://tutormentorexchange.net/chicago-area-program-links and find website address for organizations who participated. Add this to the description provided for each.

- Include a section that describes what the Kumu map is showing and how people can use the site.  Include links to my program lists so people can go from the map to the Tutor/Mentor website to find current information and to connect with some of these organizations on social media.

NOTE:  Read all of the previous posts about the IVMOOC project and about my social network analysis goals to put future project goals in context.  Just scroll down in t his conversation thread.

  • Another activity that the IVMOOC team might do is use AI to find websites for programs who attended the Tutor/Mentor Conferences.  They could use my lists at https://tutormentorexchange.net/chicago-area-program-links or do broader Internet searches.  This information then could be included on the Kumu.io map with the description of individual programs.

Note. program names and websites will have changed since 1994 for many programs.  In the conference spreadsheet that I shared with the Spring 2026 IVMOOC proposal I show some programs with multiple names, like "Epworth Tutoring / Inspired Youth". Only the latests website address would be available unless the Internet archive was searched.  For purposes of the Kumu map, latests website would be enough.  However, both names should be included in description and search.

  • 31087921898?profile=RESIZE_400xAnother  potential IVMOOC project is to create a new report showing data collected via the OHATS (Organizational History and Tracking System) for the Tutor/Mentor Connection.  This PDF was created in spring 2002 to summarize data collected from Sepember 2000 through March 2002.

An updated version of the OHATS data collection website was created in 2008. It's features are shown in this series of articles.  That site was taken off line in 2017 and due to lack of funds, no report was ever created to show actions documented through 2013-14.  I have the Excell spreadsheet of documented actions so a team could create a new report, based on the format of the 2002 report and the graphics used in the 2007 version of the website.
