While I've not been able to draw many alumni to this Ning forum I continue to receive "thank you" messages from alumni on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Visit this set of articles on the Tutor/Mentor blog and you can find a few of those.
Here's a message that I received in 2024 from Tangela Smith Marlow.
"I had a dream about you last night and I just want to say thanks for everything you’ve done for me. You played a huge part in the woman I’ve become today. The rides you gave me, the scholarship to high school, the trips to different places may have been small gestures to you but they meant so much more to me."
I hope to be able to recruit one or more alumni who will manage this group and collect similar stories, to share the value of an organized tutor/mentor program, and to encourage volunteers, donors and policy-makers to help similar programs reach K-12 kids in more high poverty areas over the next 10 to 20 years.
