Stephen, thanks for the photos. Do you operate any places where volunteers meet with kids on a regular basis? If so, what are you doing in August to try to mobilize volunteers?
Is the link on your profile a live web site, or one you want to build? I encourage you to visit this site, which we host. It's using an open source content management system, which means we built it and manage it ourselves.
You can also tell your story using blogs, and use that to recruit volunteers to help with technology.
Finally, I encourage you to post "volunteer wanted" ads on Volunteer Match, with specific job descriptions for skills you need.
thanks for joining this group. the strategies we talk about focus on building non-profit infrastructure that can support the tutoring/mentoring that takes place at specific locations in big cities like Chicago and Indianapolis. Since most non profits have a constant challenge in raising money, building visibility and recruiting and keeping volunteers, our collective efforts are intended to help each of us get these resources more consistently than if we worked alone.
We held our tutor/mentor conference in Chicago last week and two of the guests were from Indianapolis. I've been working with IUPUI for about 8 years with a goal of duplicating what we do in Chicago in your city. I hope you'll help make this happen.
Connect knowledge, volunteers, youth and make a difference.
