About Me:: When deciding what career I was stuck between teacher and social worker. I knew I would love both, as they both would allow me to work with kids. I got my BSW and worked in child welfare. While I enjoyed being able to make a difference in kids' lives, the stress was at times too much. A few years later I was able to help kids in the way I wanted to - I did two terms with AmeriCorps as a tutor and mentor. I loved it but was limited in the number of terms I could serve. Fast forward a few years, and it seems I'm rediscovering my love of working with kids through tutoring and mentoring.

What do you hope to learn, or share, on this forum?: I'd like to be able to take the next step by creating a program where I live, connecting it with the resources that are here including people who have so much to give, but may not realize the opportunities they can offer right in their own community.
