Hometown:
Western New York
About Me:
I am a high school social studies teacher with a focus on at risk students in the inclusion setting. I use tech to help my students gain confidence and ability to gain skills and requirements needed to graduate. I believe in alternative education and have created a site which I use to help students learn with podcasts downloaded to their cell phones, ipods, etc
I have also recently created a network on Ning-- IPod Educators for those interested in teaching with this type of technology.

My students can study in their own time and space and with little stigma which sometimes is associated with caring about school. It has really worked for me!

l also tutor students for ERIE1 BOCES.

I am happy to see a group forming with a focus on alternative education!

Thanks for joining the Tutor/Mentor Connection forum. I hope you'll help launch some discussions here and help build the group. You'll see from the maps and charts and links that I put on the forum, that the goal is to learn more about how volunteers can connect with inner city kids in volunteer-based tutor/mentor program, and to stimulate actions that result in more volunteers and donors supporting existing programs in Chicago and other cities, or starting new programs where there are voids.

Thus, the goal is to use the discussions to expand choices on what actions we can, and do, each take.
