NU Tutor/Mentor Connection

In 2007 we launched a separate Ning site (see archive) to try to connect alumni, students, faculty at Northwestern University around Tutor/Mentor Connection strategy. The forum never gained much traction and was taken off line in 2014. If you're from Northwestern and want to support growth of youth tutor/mentor programs in Chicago or other cities, join in here.See More

Tutor/Mentor Conference Planning Committee

Tutor/Mentor Connection/Institute, LLC hosted Leadership and Networking Conference in Chicago every six months from May 1994 to May 2015. Conferences have not been held since due to lack of financial support, but we continue to attempt to engage people in on-line networking and idea sharing using social media and forums like this.  See More

The Measure of a Mayor

The New York Times: "When voters go the polls Tuesday to pick Chicago's first new mayor since the 1980s, they can reflect on a lively campaign that featured topics ranging from education and crime to whether one of the mayoral hopefuls had smoked crack.

"But one issue dwarfs all the others: like most local and state governments, City Hall is facing a gaping…

Consistency in Funding: Toward a New Funding Model

These past few weeks of soliciting donations for TM/C's Mapping Solutions event have been an education of sorts. At times, it's seemed that my attempts to spread the word, in person and through mail, add up to nothing more than exercises in preparation for future failures. These weeks have illustrated why perseverance is a necessary trait for anyone who wants to get into the nonprofit business.

But along with perserverance, this experience has also taught me a fundamental…

Hi Michael. Thanks for joining the group. As you browse around and begin to tell the story of what the Tutor/Mentor Connection and Cabrini Connections are trying to accomplish, I hope you'll also connect with the others who are part of this group, and encourage them to take more active roles in sharing information, and working together to expand the resources we each need to operate.
