Hi Junita,

Thank you for joining this forum. When I first started using the Internet in 1998 one of the first sources of inspiration came from the TASC group  in Australia and the on-line learning that they were offering. Since then I've connected with many from there and have watched the Australia Mentor Network grow over the past few years.

Most of the organizations involved in volunteer-based youth mentoring are facing similar issues revolving around lack of funding, consistent leadership, volunteer involvement, etc. Unfortunately, most try to solve this problem on their own. I come from an advertising background with a large  US company that supported 400 stores in 40 states with a central planning and advertising process. I've been trying to apply those concepts to create a "virtual corporate office" consisting of many leaders who work collectively to support all of the tutor/mentor programs operating in the Chicago region.  One way we make this possible is by hosting amap/based directory showing where these programs are located, who they serve, and providing links to their web sites.

This forum is intended to draw people together to share ideas about what makes mentoring work, and what ways we can have greater impact on what volunteers, donors, business partners, media and others do.  Your expertise in eLearning will be welcome. I hope what we offer has value for you, too.
