In the Chicago Tutor/Mentor Program Locator I point to more than 175 organizations, including my own, who offer various forms of volunteer based tutoring and/or mentoring. In this forum, any leader or volunteer of a Chicago program, or another program in any other city, can register, create a profile, and describe what they do, with a link to their web site.

As this happens, we all have different abilities to cause potential volunteers and donors, media and leaders, to look at these organizations, understand what they do, and send resources to help them do their work.

Coaching people to use their abilities to do this is one task. Coaching programs to show what they do, in this forum, and on their web sites, is another.

We're 12 weeks before the US year-end holidays, where there is enormous charity giving. If we can draw donor interest to tutor/mentor programs, by our individual actions, we can demonstrate the power of this type of forum, and motivate more people to participate.

John, welcome to the group. If you contribute your experience to this group and the Tutor/Mentor Connection's goals, you can have a huge impact on making volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs available to more kids, and keeping them in place long enough to have greater impact.

I encourage you to reach out to others with marketing, pr, event planning and fund raising abilities to draw them into this forum so they can add their own time and talent.
