Hi Ivan,

My name is Karina and I just started working at Tutor/Mentor Connection as Research and Collaboration Coordinator.

One of my roles at T/MC is to help organize the biannual Tutor/Mentor Leadership and Networking Conference which is part of our ongoing effort to improve the quality and availability of tutor/mentor programs in areas of Chicago with high concentrations of poverty.

In the past, we have held these conferences in a variety of facilities ranging from universities to museums. We are interested in holding our two-day November 2010 conference in a church and thus strengthening our partnership with faith communities in Chicago.

Dan asked me to contact you for any suggestions on potential church facilities. Would WIllow Creek Church be a potential site or can you suggest any of your sister congregations that may want to partner with us in hosting the November Conference?

Thanks so much!

With your help we can build a long list showing how faith leaders are pointing their congregations to tutor/mentor programs in local communities.

Ivan,

Thanks for meeting with me Friday, and for joining this group. If you can create a Tutor/Mentor Learning Network page on the Willow Creek Church web site, and help facilitate the on-going, and growing, involvement of church members in that network, it can not only lead to greater impact involvement of the Church and its members, but will provide a template that other faith groups can follow to build their own Tutor/Mentor Learning Networks.

The article at this link describes the idea of a Learning Network and is the first section on the Tutor/Mentor Institute site that I pointed you to.

As you look at the Groups on this site, each one is a "sub group" of this T/M Learning Network, focused on something they have in common, such as the University they attended, the city where they are located, or the idea they are interested in.

Your members can join our groups, or can create new groups. Ultimately some sub groups like this might be hosted on your own forum and web site, connecting faith people with each other, then focusing them on the T/M network, maps, and local tutor/mentor programs.
