Volunteer Recruitment Event Planning

Tutor/Mentor Connection began building master database of Chicago youth tutor and mentor programs in 1993 and created a public awareness strategy intended to draw greater attention and more volunteers and donors to programs included in the database.  Between 1995 and 2003 formal recruitment fairs were held at multiple locations in Chicago. Since then internet media has been used for this purpose.

Visit this page and find the most current Tutor/Mentor Connection/Institute, LLC map showing non school tutor and/or mentor programs in the Chicago region.

Help keep this list updated. If you find programs on the map who no longer operate, or if you know of programs that need to be added, post the information in this forum or use the contact us form on the Tutor/Mentor Connection web site to send updates.

While we're still in January, the thinking and planning we do now can have a huge impact on how much advertising and public awareness is in place in August to help motivate volunteers and donors to support tutor/mentor programs as school starts in September. This issue affects every city in the world that is on a Sept-May school year calendar. While each tutor/mentor program has to have an effective way to tell what they do and to show how volunteers and donors can support them, not every program has the same ability to get their message heard. Thus, if we can reverse the process and get corporations, social groups, faith groups, etc. to promote volunteer involvement using their own media, like United Way campaigns do, we can increase advertising frequency and  increase the number of people who might join programs. If you agree, let's talk of how we get the attention of leaders who influence the communications programs within companies.

This group is intended to stimulate brainstorming that leads to creative actions and communications in many places, with all communications pointing to this forum where potential volunteers and donors can visit your profile, learn about the organization(s) you support, and find ways to support you.
