As our interns from Asia stay connected with us, and new interns join us. I encourage you to read this article about a Chinese business man donating $1.2 billion to charity.

Your mission, if you accept it, is to convince this leader to use T/MC maps, charts and ideas so this money is distributed throughout China, and the world, to help volunteer-based learning, tutoring and mentoring programs reach kids living in high poverty areas.

The interns from IIT and Korea set up a Cabrini Connections ning group a couple of years ago. I encourage you to join and share your ideas in that forum. You can also see some of the other work done in the past.

I am thinking about teaching English in Korea so this is a great group for me to join.

Hello everyone. It's glad to be with Cabrini Connections. Now I am an exchange student at IIT and, as an intern, working with Cabrini Connections from today.

I'm pleased to announce that we will have two new interns from Korea, via IIT in Chicago, working with us in January 2009. Once they join us we'll have them introduce themselves on these forums.

For those who might read the reviews being created in this forum, and in others in this group, Seung Jung Lee and Eunjin Cho are students from Korea who are spending a month in Chicago as interns with the Tutor/Mentor Connection.

We've asked them to look at the Chicago Tutor/Mentor Programs listed on the T/MC web site, as a first-time visitor. Here are questions we've asked them to consider:

* Home page features "mentoring or tutoring" with headline words and/or pictures

* Home page has easy-to-find subfeature of "mentoring or tutoring" with words and/or pictures

* Volunteer involvement opportunity is clear

* Contact information is clear so volunteer or donor can contact program

* Case made for why tutoring/mentoring is important

* Site shows role of tutoring/mentoring in workforce development

* Site shows benefit of volunteer involvement in tutoring/mentoring on the volunteer

* Site provides links to research related to tutoring, mentoring, poverty, education, etc.

* Site links to other tutor/mentor programs in the same city

* Site links to one or more Tutor/Mentor Connection web sites and/or Program Locator

As you read these reviews I hope it helps you begin to build an understanding of the different tutor/mentor programs in Chicago. As leaders of these programs read the reviews, we hope it helps them see ways to constantly improve their own web sites, by borrowing ideas from other web sites or from these reviews.

Eunjin and SeungJung, I think you're doing well at this. Keep it up. This Thursday and Friday at the Tutor/Mentor Leadership and Networking Conference, you may meet some of the people you are reading about.
